Admission Qualifications

Master of Science in Information and Data Science (International Program)

Applicant’s Qualifications:

1.  Hold a Bachelor degree or equivalent from a higher educational institution accredited by the Ministry of Education, with at least 12 credits in information technology and computer subjects

2.  Have an English proficiency certificate with a minimum score of 477 for paper-based TOEFL, 153 for a computer-based TOEFL, and 4.5 for IELTS.  (Native English speakers are exempted from submitting English proficiency scores)

3.  If an applicant does not meet the above requirements 1. and/or 2. they will be subject to the consideration of the curriculum committee and head of department.

Doctor of Philosophy in Information and Data Science (International Program)

Applicant’s Qualifications:

1.  Students must meet the minimum graduate admission requirements. They must have obtained a Master’s degree in a field of information technology, computer science, computer engineering or equivalent and fulfil at least one of the qualifications below:

1.1 Conducted a thesis and gained no less than 12 credits from an accredited institution or university that is certified by the Commission on Higher Education, the Ministry of Education.

1.2 Conducted a Master Project or Independent Study and gained no less than 6 credits from an accredited institution or university that is certified by the Commission on Higher Education, the Ministry of Education. In addition, at least one research publication. The Master Project or research work should have been presented at an academic conference or published in a document or journal approved by the curriculum committee and head of department.

1.3 Conducted a Special Problem or Independent Study and gained no less than 3 credits from an accredited institution or university that is certified by the Commission on Higher Education, the Ministry of Education. In addition, at least two research publications. The Special Problem or research work should have been presented at an academic conference or published in a document or journal approved by the curriculum committee and head of department.

2.  The English proficiency certificate is required from all applicants whose native language is not English with a minimum score of 525 for paper-based TOEFL, 195 for computer-based TOEFL or 5.5 for IELTS which are valid for the last 2 years.  Applicants who do not meet the English proficiency certificate requirement might be accepted with a condition to take and pass a standard English test mentioned above within the first academic year.  (Native English speakers are exempted from submitting English proficiency score)

3. Students who do not meet the above requirements 1 and 2 will be subject to the consideration of the curriculum committee and head of department.

Remarks:
If the applicant does not meet the above requirements 1.1, 1.2 or 1.3, they might still be accepted with a condition that he/she must submit one or two published or journal papers at the committee’s discretion within the first academic year.
